An Introduction

There are more than 200 million tribals, poor and backward section of our society, living in forest, slums and underdeveloped colonies in urban areas, without electricity, sanitation and health facilitires. They are illiterate and poor and suffer from various social evils and also discrimination, hatred and untouchability.

West Bengal is a place with unique diverse geographical condition and social background, with Ice capped mountains, lush green forests and sea shore dotted with many Islands, with Hill people, Adiwashi Tribes, SC/ST/OBC and general population with diverse faiths and beliefs. Some of our founder Trustees like Sri Gopal Bhai Asher, Sri Shyamapada Mukherjee, Sri Shyamlal Garg noticed the same and felt the need to work amongst them for their betterment. With intense national consciousness, healthy tradition of Oneness eliminating all kinds of communal sectarian linguistic feelings of high and low, cast differences we have formed a Trust in the name of Manav Seva Pratisthan on 28.5.1981 under Indian Trust Act.
   
There was a Hostel in Gopali near Kharagpur run by Kalyan Ashram with some Tribal and Schedule Cast boys. As they were unable to run the Hostel due to lack of finance they requested some of our founder Trustees to take over the project and manage the same. The humble beginning was from the Gopali near Kharagpur. Gradually we have launched various service projects with a view to providing them with social justice, social equality, social security and social awareness.
